2022 KAT-Walk & Karo-5K

2022 KAT-Walk and Karo-5K for Brain Aneurysm Awareness

The 14th annual KAT-Walk & Karo-5K for Brain Aneurysm Awareness was held September 17, 2022 in Portland. Families from Maine and throughout New England gathered to celebrate their survival or to remember their loved ones lost to a brain aneurysm. The weather was fantastic for the event hosting over 325 people that "shared their tears, remembered with love, and walked and ran to honor."

Among the many highlights of the day was the presentation of the “2022 KAT-Walk & Karo-5K Research Grant” to Dr. Madeleine Puissant from Maine Medical Center and presentation of the 2022 Scholarships to five students pursing degrees in Nursing, PT and OT.

This year saw 29 Brain Aneurysm survivors with their family and friends participate. 18 teams were recognized for their fundraising efforts including top fundraisers: Team Karolina, Heeley Hikers, Team Cheyanne, Team MooMoo, Team memory of Donna Peddle, Team Nolan 13, and Seek the Joy.

With your help, in excess of $22,000 was raised to provide brain aneurysm awareness, education, funding of research, and general support centered on the Brain Aneurysm community in Maine and northern New England. To all the many families that came and participated, either to celebrate their survival or to remember their lost ones – thank-you for joining us and for your continued support in making this a special day for so many that have been affected by Brain Aneurysms.
